Late last year and earlier this year, Sportlots has started to sell, on consignment a large collection accumulated by Michael Hermes, former owner of the Batter's Box, a card shop in the Green Bay area during the 1990's.
Our first task was completed this spring, where we sold off close to $8,000 worth of unopened wax boxes that were left over from his shop.
The task we are working on currently is auctioning off individual cards from the card shop and breaking up many of the sets that was left over from Mike's 45 years of his personal collection.
You can see a current list of auctions running here. While we continue to sell off Mike's large collection of trading cards, on Sept 10th, we will start to sell off his huge accumulation of memorabilia. Which includes signed balls, bats, pictures and much more! Mike has already sold a couple items through Heritage Auctions including a 1965 Packers Championship ring for $26,000 and the first banner placed on Lambeau Field that sold for $3,500.
Mike has decided to auction off the rest of his memorabilia on Sportlots. Most of the items Mike has personally obtained by attending many card and memorabilia shows. Being from Wisconsin, many of his items are Packer and Brewer memorabilia, but includes many others as well!
For items that Mike hasn't personally witnessed the signature or isn't already authenticated, we have decided to use Beckett Signature Review services for higher valued items. This service has a 48 hour turnaround period, where experts at Beckett can give a "likely to pass authentication" answer by closely inspecting images we provide. Each autographed memorabilia with Beckett Signature Review will include an image of the confirmation from Beckett.
For items that have COA, an image of the certification will be included in the auction.
For items that Mike has personally witnessed the signature through many events he attended, in the description, Mike will provide more details of how he obtained the signature and at what event the signature was obtained.
