Receiving an Invoice

Once a Sportlots order is created, Sportlots will send the buyer either an email invoice or a message in the Sportlots message center with an order summary along with payment instructions.

For auctions, Sportlots automatically creates the order for the buyer at night when auctions end. Buyers can see their orders by going to the "My Orders" screen from the Sportlots navigation menu. Sportlots does allow buyers to combine auction orders from multiple days, however the 1st order is used to determine how long the buyer has to pay for an order.

Buyers can also obtain invoices and payment instructions online by clicking on the icon at the top of any Sportlots screen.

Payment by Paypal

Paypal is Sportlots preferred method of payment. Orders are processed as soon as payment has been verified by Paypal and a transaction is sent from Paypal. There can sometimes be up to a half hour delay in some cases for Sportlots to receive this transaction, however in most cases; the order is verified within minutes. If the buyer notices that the payment hasn't been processed within a 1/2 hour of making payment via PayPal, please contact Sportlots and we will review and take proper action to get the order mark paid.

Paypal icons will be available to make payment at the time the order is complete and also from the icon at the top of any Sportlots screen.

Paypal payments directed from a buyer's checking account (eCheck) will result in a delay since Paypal will not verify payment and send Sportlots the authorized transaction to process the order until the check has cleared. At that time, Paypal will authorize the transaction and send an automated transaction to verify processing. When an "eCheck" payment is sent, the buyer will receive an email confirming payment and that there will be a delay for processing until Paypal authorizes processing of the order.

Please keep in mind that Paypal does charge a 30 cent flat transaction fee plus a percentage of the total amount paid to Sportlots. For orders under $5.00, these fees take a very large portion of the seller's profits and in very small orders, the fees can sometimes be the entire order, basically resulting in the seller giving the card away. When placing orders, buyers should try to combine smaller order to a single larger order to reduce these Paypal fees. Initially, Sportlots will not prevent Paypal payment for smaller orders, but if a buyer has a continued history of only small Paypal orders, Sportlots will eventually remove the Paypal payment option from these buyers until their overall order size increases to the point where a large portion of the earnings are not going to Paypal.

Payment by Check

Sportlots is happy to accept payment via Check or Money order. This is a great option for buyers who don't have a Paypal account or just don't like using online payment methods to pay for orders online. Sportlots will also accept cash; however buyers should send cash at their own risk. Sportlots cannot be held responsible for lost cash payments sent through the mail.

When the order is completed, Sportlots will provide a page with Payment information including where to send payment through the mail. This is also available by clicking on the icon at the top of any Sportlots screen.

Do not send payment for cards unless the order has been submitted. Fixed priced cards in the shopping cart should be checked out and an order created.

Non Payment

Buyers have 17 days (21 days if payment is coming from Canada) from the creation of the order to make payment. After that period, the order is removed auctions are re-listed and inventory is reloaded for the seller. Orders that are not paid for are tracked and sellers have the ability to set criteria to automatically block buyers who fail to meet their "non-payment criteria" from viewing their inventory or auctions. Sellers can also manually block individual buyers at their own discretion from viewing their inventory or auctions.
